This acrylic painting was inspired by the wonderful light and beaches of the magical Orkney isles, I was there on a short holiday with my family and young grandaughter Grace. Although the scene is imagined rather than factual it an amazing place full of extreme lighting and weather conditions.

I wanted to capture the soft wispy clouds blowing in off the North Atlantic, always with a hint of menace. I used a scumble method to achieve this.
